Stakeholders Unite to Strengthen Online Safety Mechanism for Children

A workshop was organized to reinforce mechanisms for the care and rehabilitation of children affected by online violence and abuse. The event aimed to strengthen and develop the existing system to a sustainable and robust one to ensure children’s online safety.
The workshop brought together various stakeholders, including adolescents, representatives of civil society organizations, journalists, law enforcement agencies, internet service providers, and other Key Stakeholders. Participants identified existing mechanisms, discussed necessary modifications, and proposed new developments through group discussions before presenting their findings.
Key issues highlighted during the discussions included the need for legal amendments, human resource development, and updates in educational curricula to address online threats faced by children. Former Director of the Nepal Telecommunications Authority, Anand Raj Khanal, delivered a presentation on the importance of children’s online safety in the digital age.
