A four-day Capacity Building Workshop was conducted in Makwanpur and Nepalgunj from March 25 to 28, 2014.

The objective of the workshop was to build the capacity of child care homes in Makwanpur and Nepalgunj to deal with missing children and child trafficking issues.

There were altogether 24 participants each in Makwanpur and Nepalgunj districts. During the programme, they received training and orientation on child protection, child rights, alternative care, psychosocial support and Missing Child Alert (MCA) initiatives.

MCA system is envisioned for responding to cross-border child trafficking, especially, focusing on Nepal, India and Bangladesh to prevent and recover the missing children in the countries.

Indira Neupane, one of the participants from Makwanpur said that the workshop was really helpful and requested for the similar kinds of continuous training and workshops in future too.

Meanwhile, Min Bahadur Aryal, one of the participants from Nepalgunj drew the attention of concerned authorities towards some other financial problems to run child care homes. He also requested the organizers to find a way to link the child care homes of the district with Child Care Home Network Nepal (CNET-Nepal).

These workshops were jointly organised by Child Workers in Nepal Concerned Centre (CWIN) and District Child Welfare Board (DCWB) in partnership with PLAN-Nepal in Nepalgunj; Similarly, CWIN, DCWB, CNET-Nepal in partnership with PLAN-Nepal in Makwanpur.
