Children’s letter submitted to CA members

The Children’s National Letter Campaign concluded by handing over letters from children to the Constituent Assembly (CA) in the Capital on December 31, 2014.
This campaign which was launched in September 2014 has collected more than 12,000 letters from children throughout the country. The letters were submitted to Constituent Assembly committees through CA member Bishnu Prasad Paudel in a closing event.

Through these letters, the children have demanded for child-friendly constitution ensuring free education and food in schools, primary education in their own languages, provision of free health services, end to all forms of discrimination against children on the basis of gender, provision ensuring that children get citizenship through mother and strict laws against rape cases.

The letters were collected from Kanchanpur, Dang, Morang, Sunsari, Makawanpur, Dolakha, Kavre, Kaski, Rautahat, Banke, Bardiya, Surkhet, Parbat, Baglung, Rukum, Kailali, Myagdi, Mugu, Rolpa and Kathmandu among others with the collective efforts from various NGOs, networks, schools, local organisations, youth clubs, child shelter homes and local media. The campaign was coordinated by CWIN.
