CWIN-Nepal in coordination with Nepal Paediatric Society (NEPAS) successfully conducted medical health camps in the seven most affected districts by the earthquake on 13 June 2015 simultaneously to mark the NEPAS Day. The seven districts were Dolakha, Makwanpur, Gorkha, Dhadhing, Nuwakot, Sindhupalchowk and Nuwakot. The health camps were conducted with the aim to provide primary health care to the affected children and adults. each team consisted of 2 pediatricians, 2 general physicians, 1 PFA provider and 1 CWIN representative. The health camps were successfully conducted in coordination with the District Health Office(DHO) and local volunteers. The health camps focused mainly on providing medical treatment to the children affected by the earthquake.

There were local volunteers who facilitated in conducting the health camp. One of the major findings of the health camps were, most of the children in all of the districts were suffering from skin diseases and eye problems that were induced by the change in the weather.(due to the summer season and Mosquito bites).

The children in Rasuwa were mostly found to be anemic and malnourished, whereas the children in Nuwakot were suffering majorly from ear and eye problems. The children from Dolakha were found to have more of psychosomatic induced headaches and stomachaches.

Altogether, a total of around 2000 children were treated by the doctors and about 500 adults were treated. Most of the children were suffering from skin diseases, eye problems, malnutrition, anaemia, fever, cold, cough and headaches. There were about 25 children who were provided direct Psychosocial first aid.  Most of the adults were treated of basic medical conditions like backaches, muscle sprains and fever. The adults were there for more of a regular check-up rather than an emergency earthquake-related disease/ injury.
